Dark Essence Records was founded in 2004 in Bergen, the “capital” of the West Coast of Norway, by a group of like-minded music fans whose aim was to release high quality music within the metal genre. It is an aim that still stands true today, with Dark Essence providing a good home for unique and talented artists, who are encouraged to form a close relationship, and an open dialogue, with the label, so that their releases can be tailored according to the artists wishes and in a way that best suits their potential. To date Dark Essence Records can lay claim to over a 100 unique releases from artists such as Taake, Helheim, <code>, Madder Mortem, Nyrst, Endezzma, Dwaal, Superlynx, T.O.M.B., Five the Hierophant, Mistur, Hades Almighty, Aeternus, Rattenfanger, Vestindien, Shining, Darkened, Slegest, Galar, Cor Scorpii, Orkan, Acârash and Vulture Industries, amongst others.

With world-wide physical distribution through Border Music in the Nordic countries, PHD in Europe/rest of the world, and The Orchard as our main partner for the North American market,  and digital distribution handled by The Orchard all over the world, Dark Essence Records is able to give its Artists a presence throughout the world.
